“Empower Her” Programme
“Education of children, especially girls, is the cornerstone to national progress”. Ann Veneman
According to reports, eradication of poverty and other vices that face the girl child start with education. It is important to empower the girl child through investing in her education, recognizing girls’ rights and the uniqueness of individual girl struggle to better herself and her immediate environment and the challenges she faces ranging from deprivation, abuse and violence.
Every girl child has to be equipped with skills and confidence. She should be made aware of her environment and rights, get involved in social, economic and leadership programmes. And get educated on health and innovation that would empower her to be the best.
To achieve this, Ada Igbo Women Development Initiative is committed to the welfare of the girl child and Igbo girl child in particular through her flagship “Empower Her Programme” with the theme: “#ThePowerInYou”. Under this programme, the girl child will be supported and educated to be able to realize the power she has to make a difference and the unique roles she plays in the advancement of the society.
The theme is inspired by the passion to evoke in the mind of the young girl, the need to be a better person to herself and the society through discovering herself and the power in her to be who she wants to be and what she is made of and aspire high. Through the discovery, she can make positive impact and be able to defend herself from negative influences and vices.
Vision
Our vision is to educate the girl child who will know her right and appreciate the power she has to better herself and affect her immediate society positively.
Target
We intend to reach out to about 1million girl child through schools and mass media. It is also our intention that after the campaign, the girls will be affected positively
Goal
To mentor, empower and support the girl child in all areas of her development.
